UBS originally held all there own stocks and did distribution from expensive floor space in Central Business Districts of all states. Advent took on warehousing and distribution from Knoxfield thus saving substantially on UBS overhead cost. Daily delivery was introduced to ensure stock is always available. Order requisitions were then moved to Internet ordering to enable UBS staff to place orders, check inventory at any time from various locations. Shortly we will be distributing direct to departments of UBS and supply cost centre reports as an on-going improvement. UBS has been a client since 1992.

Commander used to have their print management handled by a designer, Advent offered huge advantages in the warehousing and distribution of stock across Australia. As well as a superior pricing structure, commander was able to order stock online and organise shipments around Australia. In a company that has grown by over 50% in the last 2 years, Advent has help facilitate this growth with this ease of use ordering system and transparent management. When taking over the account, Advent analysed all areas of the commander stationary and discovered there would be massive savings of up to 70% to change the way the envelopes were produced (removing the solid blue band of print on the flap). Commander has remained a client since 2001.

Advent approached the CFA (Country Fire Authority) Training and Development department and offered them a solution for warehousing and distribution of stock. Most of their learning manuals were stored in dusty, dingy locations around Victoria with no real inventory figures or any idea of the usage per manual. After taking on the Training and Development stock, other departments also came on board wanting to warehouse their goods at Advent and when stock came up for re-order, Advent handled the production also. To this date, we still store product for the CFA that isn’t necessarily produced by us, like drink bottles and bottled water for the firefighters. The CFA order goods online, to be shipped from the warehouse daily. Advent currently hold over $1,000,000 worth of stock and report usage, inventory and items for re-order monthly. CFA has been a client of Advent’s since 1997.

Bowens Timber and Hardware has been a client of Advent’s since 1991 when they operated from an office in Mulgrave with 12 stores. They bought all of their point of sale documents in bulk and filled their hallways, kitchens and spare offices with boxes. Staff dropped off stock to stores as required. Store Managers complained that if too much stock was sent to them at a time, it restricted the amount of space for product. Advent purchases in large quantities, warehouses and distributes in smaller quantities to Bowen’s stores as requested. Deliveries are made to all Melbourne stores within 48 hours. As an effort to continually improve Bowen’s processes and encourage workflow automation, Advent has had numerous discussions with Bowen’s to assess the Outsourcing of their invoicing process to a mail house. Due to a complication with their process however, this is not achievable at the present time. We are working with Bowen’s to review their billing process to make this Outsourcing possible.
